Brussels South Charleroi (CRL) is best understood as Brussels’ low-cost, point-to-point airport rather than a major alliance hub. It sits south of Brussels near Charleroi and is used mainly for short- and medium-haul international flying; the airport’s own airline list includes Ryanair, Wizz Air, Pegasus, Volotea and Air Corsica. It is not a Star Alliance, oneworld or SkyTeam hub, and connections are often self-connections rather than protected through-itineraries. There are two terminals, with flight-specific terminal assignment, so frequent flyers should check the airport app, screens or same-day flight page before heading to security. The simplest Brussels transfer is the direct coach to Brussels-Midi, roughly 45 minutes in normal conditions, then onward by train, metro, tram or taxi.
