Cape Town International Airport CPTFACT

Cape Town International (CPT) is Cape Town’s main airport and one of South Africa’s key gateways, especially for Western Cape tourism and regional travel. It is not a single-alliance mega-hub in the way Johannesburg or Gulf hubs are, but Airlink and FlySafair have strong networks here, and the airport sees a useful mix of Star Alliance, oneworld and SkyTeam long-haul/partner carriers including SAA, Ethiopian, Singapore Airlines, Turkish, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Air France/KLM, Delta and Kenya Airways. The layout is comparatively easy: one central terminal links domestic and international areas, with international gates to the north and domestic to the south. For city transfers, e-hailing, authorised airport taxis or pre-booked shuttles are usually the simplest choice; there is no direct rail link. For layovers, CPT works well for same-terminal waits and moderate connections, but international-to-domestic transfers normally involve immigration, baggage reclaim and security again, so separate-ticket passengers should build in a generous buffer.
