Inside a charming 100-year-old Colonial house, chef Chalee Kader devises a creative Thai seasonal tasting menu. After a welcome drink in the lounge, guests move to the kitchen for the first bite and then into an elegant dining room. Dishes are reimagined with flair, from fried gourami fish with Thai dipping sauce to khao soi. Mains showcase Southern curries with several rice variations, and the sommelier's thoughtful wine pairing completes the experience.

Don't let the name mislead you – "38" is a nod to the founder's lucky number. This porridge hotspot has been simmering since 1962, serving up porridge in its signature brass pots for three generations. Our favourite is the mixed rice porridge option.

Veteran Chef Thierry Drapeau expands on his ‘cuisine of the soil’ philosophy he first explored in his native Loire Valley. The art-deco dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows and velvet curtains that open to reveal his stage – an open kitchen. Here, he achieves classic French flavours using imported herbs and edible flowers that evoke their terroir. The Flower Bouquet set menus rotate with the seasons, are great value and matched by excellent service.

Chef Giacomo Primante curates a "borderless dining" experience, combining European technique and Thai ingredients in his 11-course "360°" and eight-course "180°" tasting menus. Thoughtful details abound in this elegant taupe-toned space, from golden cutlery to handmade pottery. Crafted using seasonal local produce, the dishes reveal finesse and a deep respect for native flavours. The Thai white asparagus with beurre blanc and white chocolate is a standout.

This family-run stall is inevitably a hit with anyone who eats here, including patrons such as the Thai royal family. The simplicity of the exterior belies the gem of a Thai kitchen hidden inside. Some dishes are unique and feature the family's secret recipes. The stir-fried pork with bird's-eye chilli is tender and bursting with herbal aromas. The signature yellow curry with large prawns and crispy lotus root strikes the perfect blend of sour, spicy and sweet.
