The charming old Isenhof, a gorgeous half-timbered house dating from the 17C, is the new home of Max Goldberg's "irori" fine dining concept, with which he previously made a name for himself in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. He skilfully combines regional ingredients and Japanese influences in his own unique way. The set menu on offer comprises nine courses – guests should plan for around four hours. A vegetarian version of the set menu is available if requested in advance. Kerstin Bauer, who presides in the cosy dining space as host and sommelier, will guide you through the evening and provide yo

Hotel, restaurants, event venue – the former Bassermann-Jordan-Weingut operates as all of the above. It is a special world, and the experience begins the moment you step onto the beautiful estate. Historical architecture blends seamlessly with modern interior design, both in Ketschauer Hof hotel and in the fine dining restaurant, which is tucked away in the peaceful courtyard, complete with a lovely terrace. Uncompromising quality underpins everything here. Chef Daniel Schimkowitsch crafts clean, creative cuisine. Bringing to bear his own distinctive style, he skilfully incorporates Japanese i

n institution with a long tradition and a reputation that extends beyond the region for good reason. Here at Hotel Deidesheimer Hof, the dedication of the Hahn family is plain to see, including when it comes to the restaurant. In this beautiful historical building, the contrast between the old cross vault and the modern table settings and colourful decor is spot on. Prepared using select produce, the dishes can be ordered as a set menu or à la carte. It goes without saying that they have the regional classic Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach) on the menu. In the centre of Wachenheim, opposite the church, Kirche St Georg, Bettina and Benjamin Peifer present their exciting concept! After welcome drinks and appetisers in Gud Stubb (the former vicarage), you are introduced to their culinary philosophy in the pantry; you then take a seat in the minimalist, urban-style restaurant area, either at the counter with a direct view into the kitchen – a special experience – or at one of the small tables or in a koshitsu (a separate nook). A special fusion of the cuisines of the Palatinate and Japan is served. Think "izakaya- style" pigeon: juicy, grilled pi

"The oldest inn in the Palatinate" has been around since 1160 – as it says on the façade. Given that the hosts are dedicated, the location is charming and the cuisine is excellent, it's no surprise that it's popular with many (regular) guests – and it's best to book ahead. The restaurant is divided into different rooms, which creates a certain intimacy. Historical and modern details have been successfully combined, including eye-catching features such as wonderful old tiled stoves and a brick fountain. Regional cuisine with international influences is served in the form of a lovely, seasonal à

This attractive winegrower's house dating back to 1747 stands in the centre of the town. Stefan Püngeler and his wife Michela De Munno – well-known figures in the region – have taken over the reins here after a successful run at Restaurant Schneider in Dernbach. He is in charge of the kitchen, and she is responsible for the friendly service. On the menu: flavoursome Italian fare – the house-made pasta is a particular highlight. The tiramisu, presented on a dessert trolley and freshly portioned tableside, is truly delicious. Rump steak – practically a staple in the region – is also available. T

A lovely restaurant in the Old Town: the welcoming, sleek and modern setting is bound to appeal, and the atmosphere is pleasantly intimate, the service is attentive and well trained. You can watch Italian/Mediterranean dishes being prepared in the open kitchen. Look out for the "speciality days". On Thursdays: tasting menu only. The terrace in front of the house is also a pleasant place to sit.

Along with the fine dining restaurant Schwarzer Hahn, St. Urban is part of the appealing culinary microcosm of the lovely Deidesheimer Hof hotel, which is located right on the historical market square. The cosy interior exudes the traditional charm of a Palatinate inn. Good regional and seasonal cuisine is served, à la carte or as a set menu. The menu also includes the classic "Palatinate Favourite – Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst and liver dumplings with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes".
