Modern Cuisine, Creative French · ★★ Michelin

You enter this fine dining restaurant either through the side entrance or via the lobby of the luxurious Parkhotel Egerner Höfe, just beyond the elegant bar and decorative glassed-in wine cabinets. The setting is upmarket, slick and modern, with three Japanese holly trees housed in eye-catching glass cubes. Floor-to-ceiling windows afford views onto the grounds and sculptures outside. Traditional French cuisine meets modern innovation in this kitchen, where dishes are expertly crafted with particular emphasis on regional produce. A good example of the harmonious combinations that showcase the

It's no surprise that this restaurant, run with dedication for over 30 years, is so popular! Diners are won over by both the cosy space that is beautifully done out to exude rustic charm and chef Astrid Hilse's fresh cuisine, which takes the form of a menu that changes on a daily basis. Top-notch produce goes into seasonal dishes with a definite wow factor, such as braised lemon chicken with roasted vegetables and garlic potatoes, or local lamb prepared two ways and served with olive confit and green beans. The service is friendly – and the chef, too, gets in on the act. Attractive tree-shaded

The fabulous lakeside location and wonderful terrace are certainly part of the appeal here, but this restaurant has plenty more to recommend it. Dedicated chef-patron Alois Neuschmid, who earned a MICHELIN star years ago at Lois, his previous restaurant here in the same town, cooks up a storm for his guests. At lunchtime, the menu features simpler daily specials, such as fried black pudding, pasta or Wiener schnitzel; in the evening, fine dining is the name of the game, with a four-course surprise menu. In the contemporary, seasonally inspired dishes, the main ingredient is often presented in

Classic Cuisine, Farm to table · ★ Michelin

Cornelia Fischer, who heads up the kitchen at the fine dining restaurant of the splendid Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, is by no means a rookie when it comes to running a kitchen. Most recently head chef at Zur Schwane in Volkach, she is now showcasing her contemporary take on classic cuisine here at Überfahrt. Excellent ingredients go into the two four-course set menus, one of which is vegetarian. The fresh, tenderly cooked Breton langoustine with delicious braised fennel and a classic shellfish and orange sauce is one outstanding example. Additional dishes can be swapped in or out to tailor you

This long-established inn by the church is always busy and much loved by its many regulars. Appearing in records as a tavern as early as the 16C, it has now been run by the same family for five generations. The cosy interior features an old tiled stove providing warmth in winter. In summer, a secluded beer garden, a veranda and even a rooftop terrace beckon. The Bavarian and Styrian cuisine includes appetising options such as venison goulash with butter spaetzle, red cabbage and aronia berries. Seasonal ingredients from the immediate area are used whenever possible. It is a real plus that on e

The Bernhard family's centrally located restaurant is cosy in its rustic charm, attracting many regular guests who appreciate both the cordial, attentive service and the excellent food. The menu features regional and seasonal dishes alongside Swiss classics such as "Züri Gschnätzlets – veal strips, creamy mushroom sauce, cognac, authentic Swiss rösti", reflecting the family's Graubünden roots. The daily specials are especially popular at lunch. The terrace is lovely in summer.

Behind the doors of this place that looks like something straight out of a picture book, dine in the pretty, wood-panelled space that oozes rustic charm – or on the gorgeous terrace. Gaby and Alexander Struth are the third generation to take the helm of this family business: she oversees the friendly service; he takes care of the cooking. The menu ranges from Austrian classics including Wiener schnitzel, Tafelspitz (prime boiled beef) and Schlutzkrapfen (mezzelune pasta) to fresh pasta dishes and Asian specialities such as spicy Thai soup and Indian butter chicken. Then there is the freshly ca

You will love this place! The food is an elegant yet hearty take on authentic Italian cuisine. Fresh fish, tasty meat dishes, risotto and delicious pasta… And each portion of tiramisu they serve up for dessert is freshly prepared to order – what more could you ask for? You can compose your own set menu of three to seven courses (vegetarian options available) or dine à la carte. Alternatively, you can pre-order the "Freihandmenü", a surprise menu with four or five courses. The fairly priced "Business Lunch" deal is a popular choice. Chef Umberto Gorizia works alone in the kitchen; his wife Susa
