Oudeland
Seasonal Cuisine, Country cooking
€€
Urban and trendy, yet warm and welcoming, Oudeland is run by an enthusiastic team who bring the place to life. Their passion shines through in the way they present their impressive selection of natural wines and express their deep connection to Texel. Any produce not grown in their own garden is sourced from local suppliers on the island. Pan-seared haddock, for example, is served with pasta made of locally milled flour, a brunoise of kohlrabi and a shellfish emulsion packed with character. The chefs showcase their terroir in creative dishes, keeping diners on their toes with a new set menu ev

Bij Jef

As soon as you step into Bij Jef, you are struck by a sense of peace and space. The minimalist interior has been specifically designed as a setting in which guests can enjoy Texel's bounty of produce – the local suckling lamb is world famous and, needless to say, also a firm fixture here. But Jef Schuur draws much more from his surroundings. Salty herbs, crustaceans and shellfish… the list goes on. Chef Schuur puts his terroir first – be sure to take a look around the impressive vegetable garden behind the restaurant – and he showcases it elegantly in contemporary-style dishes. His innovative

The name of this restaurant is inspired by the Spanish word bosque ("forest"). This warm and welcoming spot stands on the edge of the National Park, affording stunning views of the lush landscape – the terrace is a real highlight! Robin Koenen combines finest local produce from Texel with Mediterranean flair and Asian nuances. His penchant for umami and barbecue notes shines through in dishes such as succulent pan-seared turbot with briny shellfish from the Wadden Sea, sweet tomatoes and a beurre blanc made with fish fumet and a judicious splash of soy sauce. His cuisine packs a punch and, tha

Nature takes centre stage at this tastefully converted 18C farmhouse, which also includes a boutique hotel. The restaurant's Nordic-inspired design and large windows that make you feel connected to the outdoors reflect the house's commitment to sustainability. The menu is centred on ingredients from the Wadden Sea and Texel, which they have either grown themselves or sourced from trusted local purveyors. Chef Joram structures his menu around the elements of earth, air, fire and water. For example, cured hamachi from Zeeland, brushed with a fruity glaze and served with pickled vegetables and a

This restaurant's designer decor is delightful, with a moss-clad wall that brings a touch of nature into the dining room. However, the ultimate appeal of this historical warehouse is its view of the harbour and the shrimp boats. Fish and seafood are the speciality of the house – the centrepiece is the fish tank, which is replenished daily. Think fresh Wadden oysters or scallops, enhanced by Asian flavours such as ponzu, ginger and pimento. Of course, the menu also features other local delicacies, such as Texel lamb. To cap it all off, why not spend the night in one of the designer suites?
