Situated very close to the Festspielhaus (opera and concert house), the restaurant of Roomers hotel serves pan-Asian cuisine and a wide range of sushi. The menu reads, for example, "sake teriyaki – Scottish salmon, teriyaki glaze, sweet cucumber, rice". In a setting that is upscale and very much on trend, a young and enthusiastic front-of-house team provides competent service while maintaining a laid-back atmosphere.

Surrounded by vineyards, this modern restaurant boasts a beautiful location on the premises of Weingut Kopp, a Demeter winery complete with its own wine shop. As you savour classic seasonal cuisine that draws on international influences, you can take in the view of the vines and the plain, to which the name makes reference (the village of Ebenung used to be called "Ebanat", a derivation of the Old High German word for "plain"). Made with locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, the excellent food can be accompanied by the restaurant's own wines. Friendly and professional service.

Idyllically set a few kilometres from the city centre, this warm and welcoming family-run restaurant boasts a magnificent terrace affording splendid views of the Rhine plain. The chef cooks up regional and seasonal cuisine along with a selection of Italian dishes. The mouthwatering options include a classic cordon bleu with Black Forest ham and Alpine cheese, and saltimbocca alla romana from the chef's homeland.

An impressive cross vault, elegant dark tones, designer elements, works of art – these former stables overlooking the city and a stone's throw from the New Castle have been stylishly converted. Drawing on modern influences, a three- to eight-course set menu is served – Beef tartare (classically prepared at the table) is available as an optional extra course. There is also a chic bar for an aperitif or digestif. Tip: You can reach the restaurant from the pedestrian area via the Burgstaffeln steps. This lovely wine tavern may be somewhat hidden away in its pleasantly quiet location, but it is well worth seeking out – especially in summer, when the charming secluded courtyard terrace comes into its own. Along with a relaxed atmosphere with rustic charm and friendly service, diners can look forward to an array of different flammkuchen, speciality mussel dishes and regional classics. The seasonal specials of the day are written up on a wooden board or presented verbally. The restaurant has plenty of regulars and is always busy, so it's advisable to make a reservation!
