Taller diners may wish to duck their head as they enter this 400-year-old pub, with its low beams being a sign of the building’s characterful touches. Wood and stone floors add to the appeal, while modern furnishings blend in with the historic roots. This red-brick, 19th-century former beer house packs in bags of charm thanks to its original features like exposed brickwork and fireplaces, combined with tan banquettes, wood panelling and vintage photos – while a lovely garden and semi-covered terrace are the icing on the cake.
