international · ★ Michelin

€€€€

For more than 20 years, Heike and Michael Philipp have been dedicated to keeping their guests happy. The very popular "Classique" set menu showcases a modern take on classic cuisine in four or six courses. The cooking is remarkably precise and bold, seamlessly incorporating Mediterranean and Asian accents. A standout example is the house-made agnolotti with lightly smoked mushrooms, miso and Périgord truffle. The carte blanche surprise menu is available as an alternative on Sat and Sun lunchtime and Sun evening. When it comes to wine, you can rely entirely on the recommendations of your extrem

KUNO 1408

Creative, Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

This really lovely restaurant in the centre of the Baroque city has a long tradition dating back to 1408. Kuno von Rebstock is said to have been one of the first owners of the Zum Rebstock estate at that time – hence the name. Today, diners can look forward to the ingredient-led cuisine of chef duo Robin Hofmann and Patrick Grieshaber. Creative modern dishes such as "pike-perch, tomato, spinach, black pearl caviar" or "carrot, cauliflower, ponzu, lion's mane mushroom" are served as part of a four- to six-course set menu by a professional yet friendly and relaxed front-of-house team, who give e

Gambero Rosso da Domenico

Italian, Seasonal Cuisine

€€

Domenico Cannizzaro has been on a mission to showcase Italian cuisine in Franconia for well over 20 years, and has run this restaurant at the small marina with his wife, Teresa, since 2012. Here, they live and breathe hospitality, serving two set menus, "Domenico" and "Teresuzza", which each comprise three or four courses – it's also possible to mix and match. Astute wine recommendations come courtesy of the chef-patron himself. Gorgeous terrace overlooking the Main River.

In April 2024, Konstantin Kuntzsch – formerly of the restaurant Speiseberg in Halle an der Saale – opened his own place here near the Main River and the old town. His business partner and co-founder Florian Mack is your sommelier and host, heading up the friendly front-of-house team. Ambitious chef Konstantin Kuntzsch conjures up a creative seasonal seven-course set menu. The perfectly pink roasted saddle of Bavarian fawn with a mild hazelnut crust, for example, makes an impression in terms of both technique and flavour. The meat pairs beautifully with the celery and apple flavours and the sil

Weinforum Franken

This trendy, modern restaurant is perfectly summed up by its slogan of "French sophistication with a Franconian soul". The ambitious food, made with top-notch ingredients, is bold and expressive. The appealing menu includes a small à la carte selection (featuring dishes such as "Grass-fed beef tartare, crisps, wheat beer foam, mustard seeds, quail's egg, radishes"), a selection of dry-aged beef, and a weekly menu with dishes available individually or in a set menu format. It is no coincidence that they go by the name "Weinforum": on the premises, there is also an integrated wine shop with a go

Aifach Reisers

Seasonal Cuisine, Classic Cuisine

€€

On the site of the city's erstwhile covered market, Bernhard Reiser – inspired by that previous vocation – has brought to life a friendly, casual, seasonal restaurant concept. At lunchtime, a concise, reasonably priced menu including an enticing three-course set menu is served; in the evening, the cuisine is more ambitious and comes in à la carte or surprise menu form. Tables are laid out on the ground floor and in the gallery. From some seats you have a direct view of the action in the open kitchen on the lower level. In summer, head for the terrace overlooking the market square.
