The sleek, bright space is housed in a glass and metal setting with glimpses of the canopy of this stunning building; wood and cardboard furniture designed by Shigeru Ban adds to the serenity of the place. In this dinky restaurant with the kitchen at the ‘front’ and the dining area in the ‘rear’ of the dining area, the chef whips up familiar dishes, blessedly free of fads and with the greatest respect for the ingredient. A few examples: juicy Black Angus steak and calf’s sweetbread with morels. Relaxed casual vibe.

La Lanterne is inspired by "La Lanterne du Bon Dieu", the nickname given to Metz Cathedral, which looms over the restaurant. It is run by a young couple who really give it their all: chef Célia Bertrand, originally from Metz, and Romain Bouchesèche, from the Jura, who takes care of matters in the dining room and in the wine cellar. They propose modern cuisine (pollack, morels, vin jaune) that draws inspiration from the Jura, where they met.
