Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is Taipei’s main international gateway and Taiwan’s primary long-haul and regional hub. It is a core base for China Airlines, a SkyTeam carrier; EVA Air, a Star Alliance carrier; and STARLUX Airlines, which is not in a global alliance. The airport is strongest for international flying: dense Northeast and Southeast Asia links, plus major long-haul routes to North America, Europe and Oceania. For frequent flyers, the main practical points are terminal allocation, inter-terminal transfer, and lounge eligibility. TPE has two main operating passenger terminals, with Terminal 3 expansion work changing the wider airport footprint but not replacing the basic T1/T2 passenger logic for most travelers as of this guide date. The most reliable city link is the Taoyuan Airport MRT Express to Taipei Main Station, roughly 35-40 minutes depending on terminal and stopping pattern.
